Spiritist Review — 1869 · Allan Kardec

Chapter 2 of 122

To our correspondents.

On the occasion of the publication of the draft constitution, in the last issue of the Review, we received numerous letters of congratulation and testimonies of sympathy that touched us deeply. As it is impossible to reply to each one individually, we ask our honored correspondents to accept collectively the thanks we address to them through the Review.

We are happy, above all, to see that the purpose and scope of this project were understood and that our intentions were not disregarded. All saw in it the realization of what had long been desired: a guarantee of stability for the future, as well as the first markers of a union among Spiritists, a union that has been lacking to them until today, supported by an organization that, foreseeing eventual difficulties, ensures the unity of principles without immobilizing the Doctrine. Of all the adhesions we received, we shall cite only one, because it is the expression of a collective thought, and the source from which it emanates gives it, in a certain way, an official character; it is the decision of the council of the Circle of Spiritist Morality of Toulouse, regularly and legally constituted. We publish it as a testimony of our gratitude to the members of the Circle, moved in this circumstance by a spontaneous impulse of devotion to the cause and, moreover, to respond to the wishes they expressed to us. Extract from the Minutes of the administrative council of the Circle of Spiritist Morality of Toulouse.

With regard to the exposition made by its president, of the transitory constitution given to Spiritism by its founder and defined by the preliminaries published in the issue of the Spiritist Review of December 1 of the current month, the council unanimously votes thanks to Mr. Allan Kardec, as an expression of its profound recognition for this new proof of devotion to the Doctrine of which he is founder, and makes wishes for the realization of this sublime project, which it considers as the worthy crowning of the master's work; just as it sees in the institution of the Central Commission the cupola of the edifice, called to manage forever the benefits of Spiritism upon the whole of Humanity. Considering that it is the duty of every sincere adept to contribute, to the measure of his resources, to the creation of the capital necessary for this constitution, and wishing to facilitate for each member of the Circle of Spiritist Morality the means of contributing to this, it decides:

That a subscription be opened at the secretariat of the Circle until March 15 next, and that the sum realized by that time be sent to Mr. Allan Kardec to be deposited in the General Fund of Spiritism.

Verified and certified in conformity with the draft, by us the undersigned secretary, Chêne, deputy secretary.
