Allan Kardec

1804 – 1869 · France

Pen name of the French educator Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail. Between 1857 and 1869 he gathered, examined, and systematized the teachings of the spirits into the five works of the Spiritist Codification — beginning with The Spirits’ Book. As the organizer of the Doctrine, he is universally known as the Codifier of Spiritism.

The most renowned of Brazilian mediums. Over seven decades he psychographed more than 450 books through automatic writing, donating all proceeds to charity. Remembered for his extraordinary humility and tireless service, he became one of the most beloved figures in Brazilian history.

Divaldo P. Franco

born 1927 · Brazil

A Brazilian medium, orator, and educator from Bahia. In 1952 he founded Mansão do Caminho in Salvador — a vast social and educational complex that has cared for and schooled thousands of children. He has lectured on Spiritism in more than seventy countries and psychographed hundreds of works.

A philosopher and the foremost continuator of Kardec’s work, known as “the Apostle of Spiritism.” In books such as After Death and The Problem of Life and Destiny he gave the Doctrine a profound and enduring philosophical voice.

Bezerra de Menezes

1831 – 1900 · Brazil

A physician, journalist, and statesman called “the Doctor of the Poor” for tending the needy without charge. A devoted champion of Spiritism in Brazil and a leader of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation, he remains a deeply venerated spiritual guide.
