EVENTS.
Occupy yourself from now on with the work you have sketched out concerning the means of one day being useful to your brethren in belief and of serving the cause of the Doctrine, because it is possible that the events that will unfold may not leave you sufficient leisure to devote yourself to the said work. Those very events will give rise to phases during which human thought will be able to express itself with absolute freedom. In those moments, brains in delirium, devoid of any sound orientation, will engender such enormities that the news of the imminent appearance of the beast of the Apocalypse would astonish no one and would pass unnoticed. The press will vomit forth all human follies, until the passions to which it will have given birth are exhausted. Such an epoch will be favorable to the Spiritists. They will rally together, will prepare their materials and their weapons. No one will think of harassing them, for they will cause embarrassment to no one. They will be the only disciples of the Spirit; the others will be disciples of matter.
