Posthumous Works · Allan Kardec
Chapter 56 of 64
MY NEW WORK ON GENESIS.
First, a couple of words concerning the work in preparation. As we have already said many times, it is urgent to set about it without delay and to hasten its publication as much as possible. It is necessary that the first impression should already have been produced on minds when the European conflict breaks out. If it were delayed, brutal events might divert general attention away from purely philosophical works; and since this work is destined to play a part in the elaboration now under way, it must not fail to be presented at the opportune moment. Nevertheless, that is no reason to restrict its developments. Give it all the desirable amplitude; each of its least parts has weight in the balance of action and, in an epoch as decisive as this one, nothing should be neglected, whether in the material order or in the moral order. Personally, I am satisfied with the work, but my opinion is of little worth alongside the satisfaction of those whom it will transform. What especially gladdens me are the consequences it will produce upon the masses, both in space and on Earth.
Question. — If no setback occurs, the work may appear in December. Do you foresee obstacles?
Answer. — I foresee no insurmountable difficulties. Your health would be the chief one; that is why we ceaselessly advise you not to neglect it. As for external obstacles, I sense none of a serious nature.
