The Gospel According to Spiritism · Allan Kardec
Chapter 1 of 34
Preface.
The Spirits of the Lord, who are the virtues of the Heavens, like an immense army that sets in motion upon receiving the orders of its command, spread out over the whole surface of the Earth; and, like falling stars, they come to illuminate the paths and to open the eyes of the blind.
I tell you, in truth, that the times have come when all things shall be reestablished in their true meaning, to dispel the darkness, to confound the proud, and to glorify the just.
The great voices of Heaven resound like the sounds of trumpets, and the songs of the angels join with them. We invite you, O men, to the divine concert. Take up the lyre, make your voices in unison, and may they, in a sacred hymn, extend and reverberate from one end of the Universe to the other.
Men, brothers whom we love, here we are beside you. Love one another also, and say from the depths of your heart, doing the will of the Father who is in Heaven: Lord! Lord!… and you shall be able to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. The Spirit of Truth.
NOTE. The instruction above, transmitted by mediumistic means, summarizes at once the true character of Spiritism and the purpose of this work; for this reason it has been placed here as a preface.
