Spiritist Review — 1868 · Allan Kardec
Chapter 58 of 97
Spiritism in Lyon.
Spiritism in Lyon, a bimonthly newspaper, which has appeared in Lyon since February 15, pursues with perseverance and success the course of its publication. As we said some time ago and as it itself says, it is not a newspaper of literary pretensions; its aim, more modest, is to popularize, through the lowness of the price, sound ideas about the Doctrine. It is made outside of any thought of speculation, because the surplus over the material expenses is placed in the relief fund. It is, then, a work of devotion on the part of those who undertook this heavy task. By the good spirit in which its editing is conceived and the praiseworthy aim it sets for itself, it cannot fail to win the sympathies and the encouragement of all sincere Spiritists. We read with keen pleasure, at the top of the latest issues, a notice by which it informs that the senator prefect of the Rhône has authorized its sale on the public thoroughfare. We make our wishes for its prosperity, for it should benefit the Doctrine and the unfortunate. The lack of space obliges us to postpone to the next issue the reflections suggested to us by some of its articles, among which we note one (No. of July 15) wisely conceived, on the trial of Mr. Home. Allan Kardec.
