Spiritism in Lyon.

Communications from beyond the grave. A selection of manifestations of the Spiritist Society of Brotteaux, with this epigraph: Spiritism must not impose itself; one comes to it, because one has need of it. (Allan Kardec. Revue, 1861) – Octavo brochure, 32 pages, accompanied by four engravings obtained mediumistically. Price: 75 centimes. At the principal bookshops of Lyon and, in Paris, at the establishment of Mr. Ledoyen.

This is the first of a series of brochures to be published at undetermined times. They contain a selection of communications obtained in the Brotteaux group, directed by Mr. Déjoud, a workshop foreman. All of them, in accord with the doctrine set forth in The Spirits' Book, breathe the soundest morality and bear the incontestable stamp of good and benevolent Spirits. The style is simple, familiar, and perfectly suited to the milieu in which they were given, being free of abstract ideas. Above all, the good Spirits wish to instruct. For this reason they place themselves on the level of their audience, caring little to satisfy those who, in their communications, appreciate nothing but the pomp of style, without profiting from the lessons. For them the essential thing is that the instruction be good and penetrate the heart. We believe that this collection perfectly attains its objective. We feel happy to take the occasion to congratulate Mr. Déjoud, head of this group, one of the most numerous in Lyon, for his zeal and perseverance in the propagation of Spiritism among his fellow workers. The third volume of the Revelations from Beyond the Grave, by Mme. Dozon, will appear shortly.
