Chapter 75 of 125

The conquest of the future

The Spiritist idea is growing; soon it will cover the French soil from north to south, from east to west. Markers are planted at equal distances. You are those markers. To you will fall the honor of tracing for your brothers the route to follow, in accordance with our counsels. Unite, then, not only in a common thought, but also in a common action. The phase of observation and experiment has already passed: you are in the phase of application. Act, and act without fear; never look behind you; on the contrary, fix your eyes ahead; contemplate the objective and the obstacles that separate you from it. If you distract yourselves by counting the steps, instead of advancing rapidly, you will fail in the mission that has been entrusted to you. Take, then, the traveler’s staff; gird your loins and set out on the way! But do not depart alone; let the whole Spiritist army, that vanguard of the evangelical doctrine, set itself in march at the same time. Unite, consult one another, and fly to the conquest of the future. Hippolyte Fortoul. n [1]
