Chapter 107 of 125
Remedy given by the Spirits.
This title will make the incredulous smile. What does it matter! They have laughed at many other things, which did not prevent those things from being recognized as truths. The good Spirits take an interest in the sufferings of Humanity. It is therefore not surprising that they should seek to relieve them and, on many occasions, they have proved that they can do so, when sufficiently elevated to have the necessary knowledge at their disposal, for they see what the eyes of the body cannot see; they foresee what man cannot foresee.
The remedy in question was given under the following circumstances to Miss Hermance Dufaux, who has sent us the formula with authorization to publish it, for the benefit of those who might have need of it. One of her relatives, deceased a long time ago, had brought back from America the recipe for an ointment, or rather, for a salve, of marvelous efficacy for all sorts of sores or wounds. With his death, the recipe was lost, the knowledge of which had been given to no one. Miss Dufaux was afflicted with an ailment in her leg, very serious and very old, which had resisted all treatments. Weary of having uselessly employed so many remedies, one day she asked her protecting Spirit whether there would not be a possible cure for her. “Yes,” he answered. “Use your uncle’s salve.” – But you know perfectly well that the recipe was lost. – “I am going to give it to you,” said the Spirit. Then he dictated the following: Saffron ……………………………………… 20 centigrams.
Cumin ………………………………….. 4 grams.
Yellow wax ……………………………. 31 to 32 grams.
Sweet almond oil ……………………. 1 spoonful.
