Spiritist Review — 1861 · Allan Kardec

Chapter 100 of 131

Toast of Professor Bouillant.

I have the honor of making a toast to Mr. Allan Kardec, a toast of gratitude and recognition, in the name of his adherents and of his apostles present here.

Ah! how happy we are, we the volunteers of the great work, of the fruitful and regenerating work, to see among us our valiant one, our beloved chief!

If we experience this happiness — it must be acknowledged — it is because the special favor that is granted to us today is one of those that are not forgotten, that are never forgotten. Oh! what soldier, for example, would not recall with the keenest ardor that his general wished to join him to break the same bread, at the same table?

Well then! We too, dear master, are your soldiers, your volunteers and, however high you have planted your standard, it does not fall to us to defend it, for it has no need of that, but rather to make it triumph, by a prudent and fervent propagation. This cause, in truth, is so beautiful, so just, so consoling! You have proved it to us so well in your works, so full of erudition, of knowledge, of eloquence! Ah! we all recognize it, there are pages of the man inspired by the pure Spirits, for each one of us understood, in drinking at the source of your conscientious work, that all your thoughts were so many emanations of the Most High! Then, dear master, if we add that your mission here is holy and sacred, it is because we feel, through the aid of your lights, the fluidic spark that links the visible and invisible worlds that gravitate in immensity! Thus, our hearts beat in unison, with one and the same love for you; receive here its living, sincere, and profound expression. To you, with all our heart; to you, with all our soul!
