Chapter 131 of 148
To the mediums
When you wish to receive communications from good Spirits, it is important that you prepare yourselves for this favor by recollection, by sound intentions and by the desire to do good, with a view to the general progress; for, remember, egoism is a cause of delay in all advancement. Recall that if God permits some among you to receive the breath of some of his children who, by their conduct, have known how to merit the happiness of understanding his infinite goodness, it is because he wishes, at our solicitation and in view of your good intentions, to give you the means to advance on his path. Thus, then, O mediums! make use of this faculty that God has been pleased to grant you. Have faith in the gentleness of our Master; put charity always into practice; never weary of exercising this sublime virtue, as well as tolerance. May your actions always be in harmony with your conscience: it is a sure means of multiplying a hundredfold your happiness in this passing life and of preparing for yourselves an existence a thousand times sweeter still. May the medium among you who does not feel himself with the strength to persevere in the spirit teaching abstain, for, not taking advantage of the light that enlightens, he will be less excusable than another, and will have to expiate his blindness.
