MY RETURN.

Question (to the Spirit of Truth.) — I have just received from Marseille a letter in which I am told that, in the seminary of that city, they are seriously studying Spiritism and The Spirits' Book. What should be augured from this fact? Could it be that the clergy takes the matter to heart?

Answer. — You cannot doubt it. It takes it very much to heart, because it foresees the consequences thereof, and its apprehensions are great. Above all, the enlightened part of the clergy studies Spiritism more than you suppose; do not believe, however, that it is out of sympathy; on the contrary, it is in search of means to combat it, and I assure you that harsh will be the war it will wage upon it. Do not be disturbed; continue to act with prudence and circumspection; be on your guard against the snares that will be set for you; carefully avoid in your words and in your writings everything that may furnish weapons against you. Proceed on your path without fear; it is strewn with thorns, but I affirm to you that you will have great satisfactions, before returning to be among us “for a little while.”

Q. — What do you mean by these words: “for a little while”?

A. — You will not remain a long time among us. You will have to return to the Earth to conclude your mission, which you cannot finish in this existence. If it were possible, you would absolutely not leave there; but, the law of Nature must be fulfilled. You will absent yourself for some years and, when you return, it will be in conditions that will permit you to work from early on. Meanwhile, there are works that it is fitting you finish before departing; therefore, we shall give you the time necessary to conclude them. NOTE. — Calculating approximately the duration of the works I still have to do, and taking into account the time of my absence and the years of infancy and youth, up to the age at which a man can play a role in the world, my return must necessarily be at the end of this century or at the beginning of the next.
