Chapter 37 of 79
Example 5 - ERIC STANISLAS.
— What good fortune the emotions keenly felt by valiant hearts afford us!
O gentle thoughts that come to open the path of salvation to all that lives, that breathes materially and spiritually. May the consoling balm never cease to pour forth profusely upon you and upon us!
What expressions shall we use that may convey the happiness of the brethren, disincarnate, as they scrutinize the love that unites all?
“Ah! brethren, how much good everywhere, what gentle, elevated, and simple sentiments, like yourselves, like your Doctrine, you are called to implant all along the road to be traveled; but, also, how much will be granted to you even before you have acquired any rights!
“I was present at all that took place this night; I heard, I understood, and I shall seek, at my own nod, to fulfill my duty and to instruct the class of imperfect Spirits.
“Hear: I was far from being happy, plunged into the immensity, into the infinite; my sufferings were all the more intense the more difficult it was for me to comprehend them.
Blessed be God, who permitted me to come to a sanctuary, which cannot be entered with impunity by the wicked.
Friends, how much I thank you, how much strength I recovered among you!
O men of good, gather constantly; study, since you cannot doubt the fruits of serious meetings; the Spirits who still have much to learn, those who remain voluntarily inactive, lazy, and forgetful of their duties, may find themselves, by virtue of circumstances fortuitous or not, there among you; and then, deeply touched, how many times is it given to them, recognizing themselves, to catch a glimpse of the end, the coveted goal, at the same time as they seek, made strong by the example you give them, the means of fleeing the painful state that overwhelms them.
With great satisfaction I make myself the interpreter of the suffering souls, since it is to men of heart that I address myself, in the certainty of not being repelled.
“Once more accept, then, generous men, the expression of my gratitude in particular, and in general of all to whom you have done so much good, perhaps without knowing it.”

— The guide of the medium. — My children, this is a Spirit who suffered for a long time, having strayed from the good path. Now he has understood his errors, has repented, and has turned his eyes toward the God he had denied; 1 his position is not that of a happy being, but he aspires to happiness and no longer suffers.
God permitted him to come and listen, so that he may afterward descend to an inferior Sphere, in order to instruct and stimulate the progress of Spirits who, like him, transgressed the law of the Eternal; it is the reparation that falls to him.
In the end, he will conquer happiness, because he has strength of will.
