Spiritist Prayers
by Allan Kardec
Synopsis
From the book The Gospel According to Spiritism, this set of prayers offers a support to our thoughts at the moment of prayer. This book includes prayers to address our Father, the Sunday communion as well as prayers for spiritual meetings, mediums, oneself, sick people, and deceased relatives Extract: "The Spirits do not prescribe any absolute formulaic prayers; when they suggest it, it is to fix the ideas and especially to call attention to certain principles of the spiritist doctrine " Those who pray enthusiastically and confidently have more strength to withstand the temptations of evil, and to get help from the good spirits sent by God to assist them. Such help is never refused when asked for with sincerity. Form is unimportant, thought is everything. Everyone should pray according to their convictions and in the manner that affects them the most deeply; a good thought is better than many words without the heart being in them.
